Green Goodness Smoothie



Avocados are one of my very favorite fruits (tho’ many think of them as a vegetable). They are as good for us as they taste. Their fresh vitamin and mineral rich flesh is reputed to be fantastic for healthy hair and skin, as well as the healthy fats they provide to us.

When picking out an avocado, choose a well flavored one, such as a dark skinned Haas for this slightly spicy hot and sour smoothie. Cucumber adds a refreshing edge, while the lemon and lime juice add a zip. This is one smoothie that will be sure to liven up your day!

Green Goodnes Smoothie
Makes 2 – 3 glasses

1 small ripe avocado
1/2 cucumber (I like to use the seedless kind)
2 Tbs. lemon juice
2 Tbs. lime juice
1 tsp sugar or honey
1 c. apple juice or mineral water
1 tsp. sweet chili sauce
Ice cubes

Scoop the flesh from the Avocado halves into a blender or food processor.
Peel and roughly chop the cucumber and add to the blender.
Add the lemon and lime juices, sugar and a little salt if desired.

Process until smooth and creamy, then add the apple juice and the chili sauce. Blend once more and pour over ice.
